Healthy Bath Time for Kiddos

What's one place our kids are every day that can have a big impact on their health? The bath and shower! Water is something I never thought too much about for the longest time, but one look at what’s really in your tap water, and you will be searching for a filter. I highly recommend you head to the EWG Water Database to learn more about the water safety status in your area. Below are some quick resources to help you clean up your kids (and your own!) bath time.

Vitamin C crystals

  • Neutralizes chlorine in the water. Most everyone has chlorine levels in their water since it is added to kill off bacteria. That's good, but prolonged chlorine exposure is not - we keep a teaspoon right inside the bottle and add 1 teaspoon to our kids bath water each night. Same goes if I take a detox bath!

Epsom salt

  • We add about 3-4 tablespoons (more when they are sick) to our kids bath each night to promote relaxation and boost magnesium levels, which is good for sleep.

Safe bubble baths

  • We love the Everyday Shea brand for safe bubble baths. These bottles are huge so they last forever. The eucalyptus mint and the lavender are fave scents!

Body Wash + Shampoo

  • I like this wash for the kids, especially that it can be used on hair and body.

Shower Filter

  • A good shower or bath filter can also cut down on the chlorine! We use and love this one, which lasts almost 4 years before needing to replace!
