Hot Drinks in the Instant Pot Blender

I recently bought an Instant Pot Blender (before even having an Instant Pot!) and have been LOVING it ever sense.

I make smoothies daily for breakfast so a quality high-powered blender is a must for me. The IP blender fit the bill for me because it was high powered and came highly recommended all over the internet, but was not nearly as pricey as a Vitamix. I paid around $75 for mine off Amazon, and have been super pleased with it.

One fancy thing about this blender is that it has capabilities to make soup right inside the blender and purée hot liquids. Crazy! This was definitely something I didn’t think I “needed” in a blender, but now that I have it, I do enjoy using those functions quite a bit.

I especially love making some hot drinks in the blender — hot cocoa and bone broth lattes to be exact. I don’t drink coffee, so the “latte” part just refers to making a warm drink with some add-ins and making it nice and frothy! Here are two recipes I am loving lately:

HOT COCOA

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup almond milk (I make my own in the blender, it has a nut milk function too! but any milk is fine)

  • 1 tablespoon organic cocoa powder

  • 1 teaspoon gelatin

  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil

  • 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup

Instructions:

Pour everything into the blender and turn on the “purée” function and let it run! It will automatically get hot, melt all the contents and blend it all together. When it beeps you will have a perfectly smooth hot drink!

If you don’t have the IP blender, you can heat up the ingredients and whisk well in a small saucepan, then transfer to a blender to make super smooth if needed.

BONE BROTH LATTE

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup bone broth, thawed

  • 1/2 teaspoon fresh or ground turmeric

  • a crack of pepper

  • pink salt, to taste

  • 1/2 tablespoon grass fed butter, ghee or coconut oil

  • 1 scoop Collagen Peptides (optional)

Instructions:

Pour everything into the blender and turn on the “purée” function and let it run! It will automatically get hot, melt all the contents and blend it all together. When it beeps you will have a perfectly smooth hot drink!

If you don’t have the IP blender, you can heat up all the ingredients and whisk well in a small saucepan, then transfer to a blender to make super smooth and frothy.

Someone asked me on Instagram what the benefits of these ingredients were. Here’s a quick breakdown in case you’re curious too:

  • Bone broth or gelatin helps heal the stomach due to amino acids proline and glycine.

  • Gelatin has been found to heal the gut lining and improve inflammatory gut issues.

  • Hormone balancing — excess estrogen is a common issue coming from environmental pollution, plastics wrapping our consumables, the contraceptive pill and general stress creating a hormonal imbalance. Glycine has been shown to be anti-estrogenic and helps regulate insulin and prevent hypoglycemia.

  • Improves liver detoxification — without enough glycine, the essential amino acid in gelatin the body cannot produce enough glutathione, essential for phase II liver detoxification.

  • The saturated fat in grass fed butter helps our cell membranes function properly, gives our heart energy, helps our bones assimilate calcium effectively, acts as signal messengers for hormone production, and prime white blood cells to destroy invading bacteria, viruses or fungi.

  • Coconut oil (or MCT oil) is a great source of lauric acid and medium-chain fatty acids, which are an excellent easy fuel source for the body and brain.

  • Collagen hydrolysate is an easily digestible form of gelatin that supports skin, hair, nails, and digestion and is a good source of protein.

  • The brain is comprised of 60% fat. Doctors and scientists have now confirmed that you can rebuild your brain, simply by eating these healthy fats.
