Around Christmas time I visited my mother-in-law and she introduced me to these recipe cards she had used when her kids were little. She had the kids paste cut out pictures from magazines and draw images to coordinate with the seasons. She had them all organized by season and compiled all her favorite recipes so she knew exactly what to make and when, taking the guess work out of dinner prep.
I immediately fell in love with this idea and knew I wanted to recreate this for our generation. A system of meal planning I have never seen out there, and one that would simplify the process for women.
I've been meal planning on a weekly basis for years, so by now, I have a well run system that has worked for me for some time. But it still goes without saying that I need to spend between 30 minutes to an hour on the weekend deciding what we should eat and making my grocery list. This is the part I wanted to change: the decision. As a wife, mom, business owner, friend, etc. the list of decisions I need to make on a daily basis is endless.
If I know there are recipes our family already loves, why am I re-inventing the wheel? How about I create a tool that will allow me to make that decision ONCE for every season (each being 3 months long) and keep all my recipes in one place? So I created this journal for me, and I created it for you.
Each journal allows you to plan 28 meals to rotate throughout each season, each lasting 3 months. I chose 28 meals to give variety as you rotate the meals throughout the 3 month time period. Each meal planning page has room to write a main + two side dishes, along with where the recipe is located (cookbook, Pinterest, blog, etc.) Behind each section of meal planning pages is 3 months worth of grocery lists, on lined perforated paper, for easily ripping out and taking to the store.
These journals will be sold in two colors and two versions: a soft peach + white, and Spring-Summer + Fall-Winter editions. The journals are sold separately, not in packs, and will be available for sale tomorrow, May 1, 2015.
At 6x9, It's small and thin enough to fit in your purse or keep tucked between cookbooks on your kitchen counter.
I hope you are super blessed by this product and that it truly does serve you in your journey to getting people around your table. My hope is that your energy is freed up from the stress of deciding what to cook, and available to be poured out into relationships. Enjoy it!
